Vacuum Coffee – What do they say?

Author: Albert T. Wolf

Invented by Loeff of Berlin in 1830, the vacuum method of brewing coffee has fallen from favor in the 1960s but began to make a back in 1990 and is increasingly popular in the 21st century. There are many different names for these machines – vac pots, vacuum coffee, beer siphon, siphon vacuum coffee, coffee etc siphon

If you've already seen one of these coffee makers, it was probably the first question – On the way the earth does this work?

A brewery siphon contains 4 main parts – a bottom where the water, a container top, which is coffee with a siphon connecting the container and a filter, where the liquid and gas. The operating principle of the device is based on expansion and contraction of a gas (water vapor). The lower part is heated in the container, which creates steam that drives water in the tube through the filter and the principle container. Once most of the water is transferred to the upper chamber the gas may escape by the siphon (the tube does not touch the bottom of the chamber bottom, there is little difference between them). Escaping water vapor in the container remains above at the required temperature (which can have its boiling point, but it is not). The process continues for 1 to 3 minutes, then remove the heat source. This creates the bulk of the reaction, when the steam in the room cools and contracts (some converted to water), creating a vacuum, and therefore the suction draws the liquid from the upper chamber to the bottom of containers. The effect is so strong that the coffee is almost entirely absorbed by the dry.

The origins, vac pots used simple wick burner to heat water and some continue to do so. Today, there is a little more heat sources available. In principle, almost divided into two categories – the cook (gas or electric) and the use of devices self-heating, such as alcohol and burners butun wick. From all these sources are slow-burning wick, bütün fastest. If you want go for the latter option, the search for flame burner control easily – essential for great coffee siphon.

Siphon coffee are of different sizes, most 12 ounces (3 cups) 20 ounces (5 cups) 32 oz (8 cups), but there are also breweries provided that 4 ounces and 48 ounces.

There are different types of siphon brewers available, the two most common are ball-type (photo). Here, a ship is sitting on top of another and between siphon them. Another type is a balance brewer, who works in the director, however, the fluid moves from side to side instead of up and down.

Vac pots when he fell for just a few of the manufacturers maintain their production. With the recent increase in popularity of these companies Coffee others are planning to return to production. In Japan empty coffee is more popular than the coffee filter, which is probably why many siphon coffee is produced by Asian companies including Tayler, Hari and Yama. A manufacturing vaccines known in Europe with his pot of coffee called BODUM Santos.

Perhaps siphon coffee take trial and error to get used to, but they are interesting and fun to make coffee (and a good coffee, I must say). Let's face it, no lot of coffee as if they were removed from laboratory science.
